All sides have performed well this season and this trend was kicked off with the 13 and 14 "B" sides both winning the Gold Coast cross over finals.

This was no mean feat considering the boys were up against much larger schools with treble the populations. Well done to Mr Shearer, Miss Whybrow and Mr Woolf who ably coached these two squads. 14 B's captain was Taylor Rogers with Stephen O'Leary, Cyrus Leota and Dave Alder contributing well throughout the campaign.

The 13 A'S were disappointed in the first round of their finals surge with opponents, Clairvaux Mackillop College, forfeiting the game and allowing Keebra to progress to the last 16 where they will meet Coombabah @ Runaway Bay (Kick Off 4pm). So far the boys are undefeated and looking a good chance for the grand finals.

The 14 A'S faced Redcliffe in their first knock out game and were able to post a score of 80 -0 and enough (slightly) to see them on their way to round two where they will play Ipswich Grammar @ Ipswich Grammar @ 4pm.

The 15's also progressed to the final eight with a good win over Redcliffe and will now travel to Browns Plains and face Toowoomba Champions St Marys (4pm Kick Off)

So congratulations to all those teams and with the way they have been playing there is no reason that this year will once again be our most successful season ever as a whole.

THE OPENS
This week saw the opening round of the Arrive Alive Cup with Keebra up against Cav Road in the round of 8.

They posted a score of 30-0 which showed a solid attitude in defence although there were a few areas of attack that need some work at training this week.

Sometimes the enthusiasm of running over the top of sides equates to poor on field decision making and the boys will need to

KPSHS - rectify this and keep their composure as the games increase in speed and intensity.

This victory does however put us through and we face Redcliffe at Runaway Bay with the Kick Off set for 6pm on Wednesday Night.

KEEBRA PARK WIN STRUDDY'S CHALLENGE

As the ice flows floated past and penguins headed to the Leagues Club for a Roast dinner the game kicked off with Keebra making the early running.

Against the play PBC took an early lead and converted to lead 6-0.

This lead was however levelled when Garrick Olislagers hit a hole and latched onto a well timed pass that saw him rocket over the line.

With PBC scoring again just before the half time siren the boys went into the sheds at 12-6 down but confident that with a bit of patience they would turn things around.

The second half saw Keebra hit back with converted tries to Corey Norman and another to Garrick Olislagers that set up a final quarter with Keebra 18-12 in front.

Palm Beach pressured the line right up to the end and actually scored from the last tackle of the game as the siren sounded.

This put their number six in the position of having to kick the goal to level the scores (a situation that would see them win as first scorers).

The kick was about 12 metres in from touch and although he hit it well the ball veered out to the left of the post and the game was over.

As we speak he is still reliving this moment over and over and over again……..but that’s football and all credit to coach Kurt Richards who has taken this squad and moulded them into a force to be reckoned with.

On the same night the Open A’s beat Cav Road 24-6 and the 15’s won their match.

ROBERT LUI ADMITTED TO AIS IN 2007

Recently Robert was in Sydney with the Weststigers Scholarship squad when we caught up with Robert and the other boys.

The four day visit had the boys going through their paces and learning about thei body & how to look after it.

70 boys travelled from afar afield as Brisbane and New South Wales for the camp that is a way of introducing the squad to each other in preparations for next years entry into the sports specialisation program.
