9 TRY BLITZ ENSURES FINALS BIRTH

ASPLEY /BRONCOS

REDCLIFFE 42 def BRACKEN RIDGE S.H.S. 12

After solid sets by both sides, the crowd was awakened by a barnstorming break from Barton Lyons, culminating is Josh Tunnicliffe scoring from close range. Minutes later, Barton repeated the feat to set up his brother Dylan in a stunning 60m effort.

Bracken Ridge had come to play, however, getting reward for their efforts as a big prop forward scored his team’s first try from close range.

The weight of Redcliffe possession was beginning to tell close to halftime as Cameron Humphries supplied a brilliant inside ball to the flying Josh Tunnicliffe. Unfortunately, poor conversion attempts and a last minute Bracken Ridge try meant the score at the break was only 14-10 in Redcliffe’s favour.

The second stanza was a much different story, with Bracken Ridge unable to cope with a dazzling Redcliffe performance.

Hooker Aaron Furnell started the ball rolling with a cheeky dummy before diving over from two metres out.

Jackson Clarke starred as fullback despite a hamstring injury, appearing in the right places in defense and attack, diving in for a hard earned try in the corner.

Dylan Lyons doubled the pain, and his try tally, in the same corner moments later as Redcliffe began to run riot.

Cameron Humphries was impressive in the halfback role, supplying a sublime pass for the rampaging Christian Morris to score.
A late Bracken Ridge try was little consolation as Matt Humphries benefited from a Chris Mollross break and another Barton bust set up the talented Tunnicliffe for his hat trick of tries on the stroke of full time.

Our Redcliffe boys dominated the game from early on and didn’t relent for the entire game.

This is great stuff to see, they give 100% the entire game which is evident in their winning streak.

Congratulations to Cameron Earea on his hat trick of tries. Well done to all the boys!!!

Tries scored by: Cameron Earea (3), Daniel Hammant and Jack Copeland…..our players of the match were: Jamie Farmer and Dylan Laird.

REDDY REPORT

Redcliffe SHS Year 8
GAME REPORT
What ANOTHER GREAT game by the Year 8 redcliffe boys. they played strong and consistantly throughout the whole game. their team work is what shows most in their games, with strong performances from all players.

tries were scored by Nick Stanley (2), Josh jones-payne (1), joel patrick (1), cameron earea (2). with a group of boys that play so well as a team it is hard to pick a player of the match, so congradulations to anthony o’brien for a game well played.

GAME REPORT

The crowd was treated to an entertaining game at Dolphin Oval, between two sides missing their star players due to representative duties. Our six spectating Sunshine Coast Reps provided an opportunity for four players to make their open boys debut in the Gee Shield.

In a dream start to the game, tough tackling led to a turnover and soon captain Aaron Hammant set up a flying Brett Coutts to score in the corner, Lee Johnston adding the extras from out wide.

Despite the solid tackling of Harley Aiono, Sam Tini and John Graham, combined with easy metres around the ruck areas gained from the scooting Justin Livett, Mitch Breed and AJ Martin, mistakes allowed Clairvaux to cross for 2 easy tries and take a 14-6 lead into half time.

With only one substitute, it would have been easy for Redcliffe to let the game slip out of reach, however, to their credit, the team lifted and dominated the proceedings. With Brett Coutts terrorising the defensive line, Aaron Hammant supplied the hardworking hooker, Matt Humphries to deliver a try under the posts (12-14).

With renewed confidence, Redcliffe produced some fantastic football. A cheeky Daniel Flaherty offload and Mitch Breed break almost paid immediate dividends as Clairvaux began to wilt under the sustained pressure. Soon enough the ball went through hands for Harley Aiono to score, Lee Johnston maintaining his 100% accuracy with the conversion.

In the dying minutes the game took an unwanted twist. A storming 50m run by Jordan Lockhart looked like giving the Redcliffe team the match winner, only for the ball to be dislodged with the try line begging. With seconds remaining a clear knock on went unpenalised as stunned defenders could only watch Clairvaux score under the posts.
The conversion successful, the margin 2 points against a valiant Redcliffe side.

Congratulations on a fine effort, especially by the newcomers to the team, Shaun Hirst, Shane Eliu, Justin Livett and Mitch Breed, without whom the school would have had to forfeit the fixture.

STAR PERFORMERS

Brett Coutts- Ran and tackled himself to a standstill.
Aaron Hammant- set up the tries and led the team well.
Matt Humphries- always dangerous.

GAME REPORT

Well another solid victory for the year 8 Aspley Broncos Cup boys. We had some excellent team supported tries scored, Three of which were scored by our player of the match Cameron Earea. Toby Crighton and Joel Patrick both scored two and one by Harrison Fata. The lads are improving as a team every week and should be a real threat come finals time.

REDDY FOR THE FOOTY SEASON

Year 8 Aspley/Broncos Cup team started season off well with a 20-8 win against Clontarf.

The boys played well as a team with tries being scored by Alex Findlay, Nick Stanley and the chosen player of the match Jack Copeland.

They did the simple things very well which allowed them to dominate….

WELL DONE !!

Redcliffe Yr 9 Broncos Challenge team was beaten 28-6 by Mountain Creek.

Despite the hard work by Shane Toa and Jayden Best. Alex Stack played well scoring a try, to trail 10-6 at half time.

The second half started well with Tom Overington and Matt Smith playing well. But Mountain Creek ran away with the game late in the half.

Round 3 of the Renouf Cup saw the Redcliffe SHS Yr 8’s defeat Mountain Creek 22-20.

Preparation will be the key to their success over the next few weeks both in their football and school work.

The backs played fluent and direct attacking football, whilst the forwards were ruthless and relentless.
Well Done Boys!

Unfortunately the Yr10 Aspley/ Broncos Redcliffe boys didn’t play to form this week losing 14-4 to Sandgate. Hopefully they can bounce back for a better result when they play Pine Rivers this week.

ANDREW GEE SHIELD :

Redcliffe SHS 18 def Wavell SHS 12

Despite the loss of three key players, a confident looking Open Boys team took the field against a strong Wavell side.

In windy conditions Wavell scored within the first minute, capitalising on a mistake from the kick off.

Solid defence and brutal tackling by Josh Batalibasi and Billy Sasalu forced Wavell into a stray pass for a prowling Scott Maxim to intercept. Hooker Tom Webber went on to put captain Adam Jeffery through a gap to level the scores, Zac Skoripski converting into the breeze.

Some loose ball then allowed Wavell to score near the posts. This setback seemed to fire up the Redcliffe side as the forwards started to carve out easy metres with straight runs. (Matt Humphries carried the ball and three Wavell players well into the oppositions half.) As holes started to appear in the Wavell defense, JB’s fantastic ‘around the corner’ pass set up a rampant Brett Coutts to score the equalizer.

On the stroke of half time the dominance was further converted as Tom Webber sold a dummy scoot over on the fifth tackle, AJ Martin adding the extras.

In the second half a refocused Wavell side lay siege to the Redcliffe line with full back Lee Johnston and wing Scott Maxim brilliantly diffusing dangerous bombs.

Halfback Aaron Hammant deserves credit on a fine kicking game and leading the team in attack, as do the hardworking forwards Harley Aiono, Sam Tini and John Graham.
Our star performers of the day were; Josh Batalibasi, Tom Webber, Adam Jeffery and Aaron Hammant.

UNDER 14 HANCOCK CUP:

Palm Beach SHS 28 def Redcliffe SHS 12

Palm Beach unfortunately proved to be too quick for Redclffe SHS’ first round match of the season, it looked promising for Redcliffe in the first half with Redcliffe only trailing 12-6 thanks to a try by Jayden Best.
Despite a good try by Alex Stack from dummy-half in the second half Palm Beach ran in 3 quick tries to ultimately win the game 28-12.

Redcliffe’s best player of the match was Tom Overington. Accolades also go to Mitch Liggins and Simon Malcolm.

UNDER 13 RENOUF SHIELD:

Palm Beach SHS 16 def Redcliffe SHS 8

The first round of the Bronco’s Challenge was a 1hr 45min bus trip to Tugan to take on Palm Beach Currumbin SHS. With a heavy ocean cross breeze Redcliffe lead 8-6 at half time.

Josh Beehag and JP Visser both crossing for 4 pointers. The half was based around fantastic defence, as we payed for poor ball control which allowed Palm Beach to gain several sets at our line.

In the second half Palm Beach had the cyclone behind them and continued to pepper the boy’s line. We eventually went down 16-8.

We paid for poor field position. The whole side played well and showed tremendous courage in their defensive effort. Palm Beach are a very big side and we continually punched above our weight.

Bring on next week!!!
