BULLDOGS TRY TO BITE SHARKS

The Bulldogs & the Sharks Junior Reps played trial games today at Hammondville Oval with the Sharks giving as good as they got in the SG Ball.

Dave Pasqualino opened the scoring for the Sharks in today's Matthew's Cup trial game against a hot Bulldogs outfit with a good try near the corner post.

The Bulldogs Matthew's Cup squad are a big powerful combination and should give the 2009 premiership a real shake again.

The Sharks SG Ball team on the other hand easily handled the Bulldogs 2 teams winning some thing 10 tries to 5.

With the Sharks Matthew's & SG Ball players all desperately seeking to gain a place in the sides, the Sharks will only improve and look forward to an excellent year.

FLEGG BULLDOGS INTO PRELIMINARY FINAL

The Bulldogs Jersey Flegg team have defeated Manly 26-8 this afternoon at Belmore Sports Ground.

The victory now sees the blue-and-white advance through to week three of the finals series where they will have a shot at a place in the 2007 grand final.

The Bulldogs led 6-2 at halftime before extending their lead to 16-2 midway through the second half.

Young Ben Barba was a standout performer yet again for the Bulldogs and will be the key for this side if they are to go all the way this season.

The Sea Eagles managed to close the margin to just eight points before the Dogs scored two late tries to run away 26-8 winners late in the contest.

Bulldogs win Matt's GF 07FAVOURITES VICTORIOUS

THE Bulldogs under-16 side won the Harold Matthews Cup in emphatic style over the Penrith Panthers on Saturday afternoon, clinching the game in extra time with a stunning try to John El Agha.

Going through the season undefeated, Canterbury were always favourites but after trailing 8-0 early on the Panthers looked in fine form to cause an upset.

The Bulldogs managed to steer themselves back in the game with tries to Teni Waipouri and Alai Taufaao.

Taufaao's late try levelled the scores at 14-14 and sent the game into a golden-point thriller to decide the premiership.

After losing just one game in two seasons of football, it was the blue-and-white army that came out out top - scoring the winning try out wide to win 18-14 and taking revenge on the Panthers who beat them in the Grand Final last year.

UNDEFEATED BULLDOGS INTO GRAND FINAL
Story By : Bulldogs
The Bulldogs Harold Matthews side have qualified for the 2007 Grand Final after continuing their unbeaten season with a come-from-behind 20-12 victory over Newcastle yesterday.

The Under 16 side will face off in a rematch of the 2006 Grand Final on Saturday against Penrith at the Western Weekender Stadium at St Mary's.

The Dogs have lost just one game in two years - that loss coming in last year's decider against Penrith.

Yesterday's Semi Final was a battle between first and fifth and despite trailing 12-4 with 15 minutes remaining, the Bulldogs managed to scrape home.

Leading 12-4, Newcastle looked certain to extend their lead as they found open space, however desperate defence from Ratu Tagive saved the try which would have almost certainly wrapped up the game.

The Bulldogs managed to work their way inside the Knights 20 metre zone where Ben Aualiita attracted 2 defenders before unloading to Liam Ayoub who went over to close the margin at 12-8.

Newcastle were still in the hot seat with the clock ticking away and it looked good for them after producing an overlap only for young Liam Ayoub to spoil the party as he pushed the Newcastle winger over the sideline just metres short of the line in what would prove a match winner.

From there five-eighth Aiden Sezar put captain Ali Hijazi into space before Hijazi drew the Knights fullback as Nathan Massey raced 30 metres to score and put the Dogs in front 14-12.

As the clock ticked away the young Bulldogs found themselves working it out of their own half. Some crisp ball movement and determined metres saw the Dogs venture down-field to be within 30 metres of the Newcastle line.

Sezar was again involved as he chipped and chased before passing to Hijazi who strolled over to make it 20-12 and secure a spot in the Grand Final.

The Panthers made light work of their Semi Final opponent, beating Parramatta 34-12 in a one-sided affair.

BULLDOGS
The unbeaten Bulldogs Harold Matthews team will travel to St Mary's Western Weekender Stadium this Saturday as they not only look to continue their hot form, but also to book a place in consecutive Grand Finals.

The Dogs come up against a Newcastle Knights team who finished 5th on the competition ladder and managed to eliminate the 4th placed Dragons last weekend with a convincing 30-4 victory.

The Bulldogs won 18-12 in a struggle against Manly. After trailing 12-4 at the break, the Bulldogs ran in three second-half tries to take the win and progress to the semi-finals.

The Bulldogs will be looking to the likes of Nathan Massey and captain Ali Hijazi who have been in great form all season. Massey has managed to dive over for 12 tries in nine appearances whilst Hijazi has racked up a points tally of 90 (8 tries, 29 goals).
