Endeavour SHS rugby League will be holding their 2009 Presentation Night at the CBC at Caringbah. Atfer a very successful 2009 campaign which saw endeavour SHS make the Grand Final of the NSWCHS University Shield, the Semi Final of the Arrive alive Cup, only to loose to eventual winner Keebra Park from a dubious pass that looked a meter forward. The junior teams reached the finals of the Chase Stanley Cup, NSW ALL SCHOOLS Championships, the NSWCHS Buckley Shield and many others. JUNIORS DOMINATE SHARKS U16, U18 SQUADS LOCAL juniors have dominated the Cronulla Sharks under-16 and under-18s squads with more than 80 per cent of the players in the 65-man squads from Cronulla Sutherland's junior rugby league teams. The train-on squads for the Harold Matthews (under-16) and SG Ball (under-18) competition assembled for preseason training last month and will train during the summer months. They will get a chance for selection in pre-season trials next year. Sharks Academy coordinator Alan Wilson said the players would focus on improving their core-skills and conditioning. "In the under-16s, primarily it's their first involvement with each other so there is a familisation period where you've got to get them to become mates,'' Wilson said. "They are going through that now. "With the SG Ball, a number of them have played together before so they tend to gel a bit quicker.'' David Howlett (Harold Matthews) and Tony Herman (SG ball) again will take charge of the teams, with former St George Illawarra player Colin Ward and Kevin Farquhar the assistant under-18 coaches. Former Balmain prop Shane Walker and Steve Holz will assist Howlett. Wilson said it was of great importance that the bulk of the squad had come through the junior ranks. "It's always good to be producing your own rather than having to buy players,'' Wilson said. "It adds more significance to our junior competition and more importance.'' The squads will be trimmed before the competition kicks off on February 13. Cronulla Sutherland District Junior Rugby Football League Inc will hold its 2009 Annual General Meeting on Monday 9 November 2009. The AGM will be held in the Southern Grandstand Function Room of Toyota Stadium and commence at 8pm. All members are welcome and the meeting will be followed by Supper.  The Cronulla Sutherland Sharks were proud to host the touring St. Helens Rugby League Academy for their third game of the 2009 Aussie champaign. The Sharks only had 4 training ssessions to get the Under 17's Developemnt squad ready for this international junior match. The visitors have enjoyed their stay in Australia with some footy against the WestsTigers & the Balmain tigers developments squads, the boys have even tried surfing, white water rafting and seem to like the Aussie girls. The St. Helens team would have been confident going into the game undefeated so far on tour, and were wrapped to play on the NRL's best ground Toyota Stadium at Cronulla in the south of Sydney. The Saints knocked on from the kickoff and gave the ball to the Sharks only 5 meters from their line and the Saints with stood repeated attacks from a frantic Sharks pack, the defenders held firm for 2 or 3 sets which included 2 forced line drop outs as guys were getting tackled ingoal Weight of possession told and the Sharks center Paul McClory saw a gap from 15 a run to open the scoring but putting the ball down behind the posts. The Cronulla hooker converted from in front, the score was 6 - 0 The saints showed some of their good form gaining 70 meters in their next set with good runs from the pack. The Sharks got the back and a battle of the forwards took place in the middle of Shark Park, this was n't going to work so the Sharks got the ball out to winger Joseph Drinkwater was on the end of a set play and went in as he knocked over the corner post. | ST. HELEN'S V BALMAIN U17's Foundation Academy Tour Update - Day 4 (Balmain) THE latest from the Foundation Academy Tour of Australia. The Tigers played 2 teams to give all their Developments squad a run before an excited home crowd. The visiting Saints proved too good in the first stanza winning 26 - 0 in a well organised desplay of footy. The second stanza was a much closer affair with the Tigers scoring a single converted try which was enough to draw the stanza. Things are looking good for the visiting St. Helen's boys with 3 more games against Sydney powerhouse's Wests Magpies, Cronulla Sharks & the Penrith Panthers next week. Mike Rush, Head of High Performance writes:Day 4 : We trained in the morning and it was the best session of the trip so far. The afternoon saw the players and staff undertake kayaking across from Manly to a local beach. First out of the boat was Ian and Eric Chisnall with a total distance travelled of over a meter with Eric nearly passing out on Sand! Top of the class was Kieron Purtill and Paul Leyland, closely followed by Derek Traynor who would have won if not for a wrong turn. On the return leg Tommy Johnson and Tom Makinson suffered the biggest fall with their boat doing a titanic impression. All was well until Makinson thought he had sharks circling him...... Unbelievable. Coaches Frodsham and Lomax had a sleepless night with the rerun of their many tales of the sea. Lomax has taken the role of Uncle Albert! The team beat Balmain 36-6 with all the lads getting a good run out. Man of the match was Anthony Walker with special mentions to Ben Karalius, Josh Jones, Scott Hale, Tommy Makinson and Carl Forster. The month long trip – sponsored by Hattons Solicitors – forms an integral part of the Foundation Academy’s rugby league education and includes four matches as well as important team building exercises. |

THe South Dubbo Eastridge Cobra's are bringing their Under 13's & Under 14's sides for games against the Gymea Gorilla's & the St. John's Bosco Bulldogs. Both games are on tomorrow, Saturday the 3 rd October, at Toyota Stadium, the South Dubbo will will against have their work cut out for them, with both local teams being Grand Final teams. Then on Sunday, the Cobra's will be taking on the Tigers development squads at the Eastwood rugby ground. Well done to Colin and the team at the South Dubbo Cobra's JRLC, it takes a fair bit of organisation to take teams away. Heathcote High School hosted today's NSW CHS University Shield match against INVERELL High School. After a bit of a scratchy start by both teams the visitors did most of the attacking in the 1st half and were rewarded with a 0 - 10 half time lead with tries to Blake Murray and Harley Lane. The second was a better half with both teams hungry for a win. Heathcote scored when forward Clinton Allen bashed his way through some paper thin defence to bring the home side within reach of an upset. INVERELL were good enough to wack on 2 more 2nd half tries, again Blake Murray scored and Jake Moore crashed over for the sealer with a nice backline move. Heathcote hit back when hooker Ryan Giles dived over from dummy to score near the goal post, Clinton Allen converted but it was too late, the game was over. What a fantastic sunny day for the kickoff of the 2009 Cronulla Junior League Grand Finals. In what started to look like a wet day turned into a beautiful Sydney winters day. The footy was on at Shark Park and next door on the Cronulla Caringbah grounds. In an amazing fact, of all of the teams that played today, half of them won Grand Finals. STARS IN HIS EYES 
Last week, the captain of the De La Salle under-13 rugby league team was chosen with some of his teammates to represent the Cronulla Sharks in a juniors match against South Sydney in several weeks' time. When the first training session arrived, the 20 boys who had been selected, and their parents, were delighted to be told by Ricky Stuart and his assistant coach, Alan Wilson, that they would be training on the main oval of Toyota Park - the first time most of the boys had been on the same venerable grass where the Sharks actually play! As he sat in his father's car after a great training session, the De La Salle captain was seen digging grass from his studs and then tucking the grass into the side pocket of his training bag to take home and show his mum. |

What a day of footy, 3 ovals, plenty of action and everyone was a winner Congratulations to Engadine High School who took out the Under 16's final and to De La Salle Cronulla who won the opens final. THe opens final was a thriller from the start to the finish. Scores were nil all at half time and that was the score at the end of the game. Sudden death and the opens final was off at 100 kilometers per hours, it wasn't long before De La Salle's Roy Steele went in the far corner to win a fantastic grand final where both teams deserved to win. It's not just the Reece Davidsons, Joseph Rokoqo and Chad Townsends of this world who get to play for their state. Now the next crop of future champions are coming through the ranks. 3 boys from Yarrawarrah Tigers under 12A have made the train on squad for NSW in the open primary school knock out. They are Cameron Scott , Blake Higgins and Daniel Vasquez. Blake was from Sydney East and the other 2 were from McKillop . The 12A Yarrawarrah team had 5 Rep players at this carinval with Blake Maddocks (Sydney East) and Jye Chanellor (Sydney South West) not crowing but they the gun side in this age group in Cronulla Sutherland comp. These are the boys that made nsw train on squad and the pic of the 5 is of the boys that made NSW state championship. We think its a great effort for 5 players from 1 team local team to make it that far . |

Congratulations to all the players, coaches and fans on a great day of junior rugby league on a sunny winters day. At times it looked like organised chaos, there were kids, families and friends everywhere over the three venues for this years Sharks Schools Knockout. There were 100's of winners today, everyone who played did their best, had fun, some people scored tries and some set up a few, but every one got the day off school. Today was amazing, at Endeavour Sports High School, Endeavour played Matraville Sports in the u 18 NSWCHS University shield where half a dozen NSW under 18 representatives battled for their schools. As you can imagine this was a game of the highest quality with lots of real good footy players, and 100 meters away on the top field, the mighty under 13's were battling for supremacy of there own.  FIVE weeks ago, the Sharks were a club in crisis and without a hope of luring a player to the Sutherland Shire. But yesterday, Cronulla boasted the signature of the hottest young talent in the game - NSW under-18s halfback Albert Kelly. Underlining just how far the Cronulla club has come in just over a month, Kelly - the cousin of superstar Greg Inglis - ignored interest from Melbourne, Wests Tigers, the Bulldogs, Gold Coast and Parramatta to sign a two-year deal with the Sharks. The massive coup emerged on the back of news that Cronulla had also signed Wests Tigers hooker John Morris for two seasons while also extending in-form halfback Scott Porter's contract until 2011. Despite the persuasive powers of Inglis and NSW coach Craig Bellamy, who met and spoke to Kelly on several occasions, the exciting talent opted instead to link with former Test coach Ricky Stuart. Kelly also played Australian Schoolboys with Sharks centre Matt Wright, which was another major lure for the Eels youngster. "He's a very bright young talent who will add to the youth and the culturewe are building at the club, which Ibelieve has taken massive steps this year,'' Stuart said. "Albert's attacking flair is what's needed in today's game and I'm sure it will be a great bonus for us.'' Kelly, 18, will add depth to the Sharks halves while he's also considered the future replacement for when five-eighth Trent Barrett retires at the end of next season. Interestingly, Kelly grew up in Bowraville, where he mimicked his idol Barrett in the backyard alongside Inglis. It's also believed Kelly was taken by Stuart's youth policy, which has proven the catalyst to the club's form reversal. Kelly was instrumental in NSW's 24 - 6 win over the under-18 Maroons last Wednesday night, while he also famously entered the history books last month by scoring a try in the NSW Cup after just eight seconds. |

The Sharks Schoolboys Knockout have been reschedualed. Next Wednesday the 1st July is the knockout day for the Under 12's, 13's, 14's and under 15's. No one school dominated last year with Engadine High & Port Hacking High winning last year in these age groups. The Under 16's & Opens will be held on HAVE 2 CHECK The Knockout are usually played at Endeavour Fields, Captain Cook Oval & Woolooware High. This year should prove to be exciting on both days as all schools have long memories and most schools will have improved again in 2009. On another matter, A VERY BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all the boys who have been invited to train with and to get the opportunity to be a part of the Sharks Development Squads, all squad members will get the chance to improve there skills, fitness and leadership qualities. Tomorrow is meant to be the day for the Sharks Secondary All School Challenge for u 16's & opens. At the moment the grounds are closed, we are advised the council will be inspecting the grounds at Endeavour Fields to see if it is safe to play footy on. So if the rain stays away for the day, the knockouts should be on. On another issue, last weekends footy was fantastic in the rain, the kids all had a great time, looks like the Junior League finally made a good call The Bosco v Engadine Under 16A game that was called off and other games affected, will most likely be played on a Wednesday night during the school holidays |

| FUTURE LEAGUE STARS LINK UP WITH RUGBY LEAGUE LEGENDS Next week local primary schools will battle it out in Cronulla to compete in the Telstra Legends of League competition at Toyota Stadium, Cronulla with support from league legend Wayne Pearce, Cronulla Sharks players and ARL Development. Throughout the competition, participating kids will experience what it is like to be 'coached' by a league legend. Wayne Pearce will give each local school a motivational half-time talk in a mocked up dressing room via a video call, and will also run a question and answer session with the kids. The Telstra Legends of League competition kicks off at 9.00a.m. Wednesday, 20 May 2009. Children taking part in the competition will be encouraged to learn more about rugby league and the importance of being physically active, whilst in a safe and fun environment. "Telstra is very proud to support initiatives like these which encourage young people to be physically active in their local community,"Telstra's General Manager for Greater Sydney Jon Grahame said today. It's great to have the NRL players come along to work with the kids and for Wayne Pearce to get involved by giving the students a motivational half-time talk via video call over the Telstra Next G network, Mr Grahame said. Last year, the Telstra Assistance Fund also contributed $250,000 to 240 Rugby League clubs across the country. Story BY BRAD FORREST Photo By : SIXTEEN-year-old junior rugby league player Brady Jamieson is just one reason why the Cronulla Sharks must survive. The De La Salle student, a Gymea Gorillas' second rower, has already sacrificed his health while aiming to play for Ricky Stuart's Sharks. Brady was born with glaucoma, which began to affect his sight soon after he impressed judges to make the Sharks Matthews Cup squad last year. He suffered bleeding and was warned he could never play contact sport again. But Brady wasn't happy with that verdict. ``After undergoing operations, I just decided to use the internet to see if I could find some special eye protection to play sport,'' he said. ``I found some American sportsmen were wearing special goggles to protect their eyes.'' Brady took the idea to his specialist, had the goggles made to order and returned to the field after the league approved their use. One of the stars of the unbeaten Gymea 17a side coached by Mark Smith and assisted by former Sharks coach Stuart Raper, Brady is a member of the Sharks development squad and could be in line for selection for the Sharks SG Ball (under 18) representative side next season. ``I'd love to be back playing for the Sharks,'' he said. ``That is my big aim, and right now I'm just happy playing for the Sharks and De La Salle.'' |

 ARRIVE aLIVE CUP UPDATE Aquinas College hosted the latest round of this years Arrive alive Cup. Aquinas College played De LA Salle College Cronulla yesterday in a tight contest of schoolboys rugby league. De La came of the eventual winners scoring 3 tries to one to make the score 4 - 14. Anyone what to write a match report, kick it to us. St. Pat's Sutherland also played this week against Sylvania High School, in the other local Arrive alive Cup match at Waratah Oval Sutho'. Sylvania High performed well scoring a try in each half and thought they were in the game at half time with the scores at only 6 - 10 to St. Pat's . St. Pat's at Sutherland have had good footy teams over the past couple years and were too good for the Sylvania High boys taking the game 12 - 26 and going on to the next round. Maybe St. Pat's play De La Cronulla? that would be a good game anyway. |

| IT'S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS PLAYING FOOTY As most people know the Cronulla Junior League is struggling, they are struggling in more ways than one too. Due to a lack of Referee's in the Cronulla Junior League, it became impossible for the Under 16A's to play on the traditional Sunday. After lasts weeks debacle with games being called off, then back on, the Junior League didn't want to go through this every week so they did the only thing they could to get the kids on the playing paddocks each week. Transfer all Under 16A games to Saturday where the Junior League can guarantee that there will be ref's to officiate these games Although is it is a major pain in the preverbal, this seems to be the only solution to get the kids playing footy, which is what everyone wants. |

Former Sharks halfback & current Bulldogs champion Brett Kimmorley and his Fox filmcrew turned up at Captain Cook oval this arvo for Brett's Rugby League NRL TACTICS show on Fox Sport. Brett Kimmorley went through some of the NRL's best set play moves with the De La 16A(1)'s. We can't say too much coz we don't want to let the cat outta the bag, Brett showed the boys how, and importantly why the plays work, then they went out onto the field to do the moves for the Fox camera's. | TEAMS LOOSE 2 POINTS Last night the Cronulla Junior league ruled on the round 2 breach of the player eligibilty rules. Engadine, De La and Cronulla Caringbah all have had two competition points deducted from them. De La actually lost their game and still lost 2 points, but they will no doubt appeal the decesion and the 2 points should be reinstated. This brings the question of other teams fielding Junior Rep players in other age groups like the U 17's & u 19's, will the same rules still apply, we will have to all wait and see. |

The Parramatta Eels have beaten the Cronulla Sharks 38 - 22 in a sensational SG Ball fixture at CUA Stadium Penrith Sunday in fine conditions. There were twelve tries scored. Seven to Parramatta and five to the Sharks in a great game of football that was a credit to both clubs involved. Cronulla lock Tyrone Peachey was first to score after only two minutes of play. He chased a grubber kick from star half back Chad Townsend into the Parramatta in-goal and touched down. The Eels hit back eleven minutes later when big Queenslander Pat O’Hanlon using basketball skills dunks a pass to centre Rory Brien who dummied his way to the line. Five minutes later Parramatta’s Wagga import and half back Josh Murray put up a cross field kick for winger Thomas Vandermade to score in the corner. In the 22nd minute Eels skipper Kyle Fraser makes a half break and then off loads to five eighth Jaydin Tavita who raced twenty five metres to score a good try. Parramatta lead 18 - 4. Two minutes later Sharks winger Tyler Jarden scored a try after a backline move involving decoy players bamboozled the Parramatta defence. Five minutes later Cronulla centre Joseph Rokoqo dives over from dummy half and the score is now 18 - 12 in the Eels favour at half time. The score could easily have been 18 - 16 had two Chad Townsend conversion attempts not hit the upright. The second half started with O’Hanlon making a good burst only to be brought down close to the Sharks line. From first receiver Josh Murray dummied the defence and went over for a try. In the 42nd minute Eels centre Olomanu Usini scored after gratefully accepting a pass from Fraser who retrieved a spilled bomb from a Sharks player. Four minutes later Rory Brien snags his second try for the game after fullback Chris Ulugia chimed into the line. Brien showed good pace to race to the line. The Australian AIS player is starting to show good form after he blew Newtown off the park last week. At 32 - 12 the game looked over. But try telling that to the Sharks players. At the 53rd minute James “Hitman” Hasson scored another constructive try after two decoy plays again confused the Parramatta defence. Four minutes later they were in again through the efforts of winger Ben Stratton who was the recipient of a great cut out pass from five eight Penani Manu. The score is now 32 - 22 in the Eels favour. Parramatta finished off the scoring in the 63rd minute after Ulugia made a line break from a scrum 80 metres from the Sharks line and linked with Tavita who flew 60 metres to the line to score a great try. Final score 38 - 22. Cronulla had many heroes. None better than half Chad Townsend and hooker Dane Malone. James “Hitman” Hasson also tried hard and I like the look of their North Coast import, big prop Joel Tubbs. Parramatta had defensive problems yesterday. They are a big team and are troubled when opposition teams play an up-tempo game like the Sharks did yesterday. They play Norths Devils, Queenslands top team next week in Brisbane. Centre Olomanu Usini who usually plays second row looked ponderous in defence yesterday. He will probably go back to the forwards next week as gun lock Krys Freeman was injured and reports indicate he may miss the remainder of the finals series. In my view the Eels need to get some genuine backline players into their team if they are to advance beyond next week. They are relying on playing big forwards such as Jacob Loko and Usini out in the backline and it is causing problems in defence. Time will tell. |

| DISTRICT REP PLAYER'S UPDATE ourfootyteam has been in contact with the Cronulla Junior League about District Rep players playing on Sunday. This story really, is all about kids wanting to play footy for their clubs. Now that the Junior Rep season is over, Cronulla's Harold Matthew's & SG Ball players were keen to play footy for their local footy clubs. That makes sence But then so does the Junior League rules, their opinion is that kids should not be playing footy 2 days in a row. Are these some more mental guidelines from NSWRL & ARL? So we await the wisdom from the Cronulla Junior League to make a decision tonight on one of their own rules, that will be interesting hey |

Congratulations to the Cronulla Sharks Harold Matthew's & SG Ball Cup Squads on a tremendous junior rep's season. Both teams made the finals this year which is a big improvement on previous seasons. Unfortunately the mighty Sharkies couldn't go on after meeting huge resistance from opposing team. The Sharks SG Ball team had their job cut out for them as they had to play competition favourite's the Parra Eels. The Sharks had the measure of the Eels in their last encounter going down as we all remember by a measly couple points. Parramatta learnt from that game and took the Sharks much more seriously in the final on Saturday and had too much firepower for the Sharks, well done to Tony Herman and his staff and of course to Chad Townsend and his players, we are very proud of ya boys. The Harold Mathew's Cup team also faces stiff opposition in week 1 on Saturday, the Sharks once again kicked off the game like they were on fire and were 14 - 0 up after a few minutes with some great tries to Nesi, Mick Morris and skipper Reece Davidson. Then the nights decided they wanted to win, to the Knights credit they were good enough to claw their way in front and were good enough to keep the Sharks scoreless for most of the game. Brett Denford crossed the line later in the second half to give his team a sniff,but it was not be be and the footy gods decided the differently which some help from the ref's. Well done boys on a good season, a couple of those losses we could have won, but as Ned Kelly said "such is life" |

16A's kicked off round 2 this weekend with some teams playing their Junior Rep players. According to the Cronulla Junior League constitution, Junior Rep's were ineligible to play in round 2, teams who fielded Junior Rep's will loose their points from round 2. There fore magnificent efforts by the Engadine Dragons, & Cronulla Caringbah & De La Salle will loose their points from today, with the exclusion of De La who lost anyway. In their third year of participating the Parramatta Eels were crowned winners of the Straits Open Boys division at the 2009 Nyngan Easter Rugby League Challenge after finishing runners up to Newcastle for the past two years. The Parramatta side scored in the last 5 minutes of the final to secure a 22-16 win over the Penrith Panthers. In the ITT Flygt 15’s division, Parramatta ran out convincing winners with the CRL Far West Academy placing second. Ten teams from across the state travelled to Nyngan to take part in the Easter Rugby League Challenge. Parramatta and Newcastle made the trip west for the third consecutive year and were joined by newcomers Cronulla, Western Suburbs and Penrith. On Friday evening the participating teams were welcomed by local Aboriginal elder, Kenny Lee, from the Wongaibon tribe and Bogan Shire Council Mayor Ray Donald. Ray commented on how proud and honoured the Bogan Shire council are to be able to host this great event in the Far West of NSW. Following the welcoming, the teams had a chance to test their bush skills participating in the Golden Tusk games. Teams were required to cook damper, chase goats and herd sheep through a set course.. STORY & PHOTO'S BY : Cronulla's two district rep teams are into this years finals after wins against the Central Coast at Morrie Breen oval earlier today. The Matthew's Cup side were 0 - 12 up at half time thanks to Nesiasi Mataitonga who crossed the line twice and coverted both of his tries. Hooker Michael Lichaa sneaked in for another trademark try from dummy close to the line to give the Sharks a 10 - 18 victory on the scoreboard. The Sharks finish the 2009 Harold Matthew's Cup in 8 th place on the ladder, the best they have finished in a number of years, so congratulations to coach Dave Howlett and staff, and the boys, now the job has just began. The Matthew's Cup take on the Newcastle Knights next week in the 1st week of the 2009 finals and will want to go a lot better than today's Wyong effort to proceed along the Premiership path to glory. In the SG Ball the Sharks had a 0 - 20 point lead at the half only to let the Central Coast attack to put on 18 second half points they didn't deserve to end up winning 18 - 42 Today's win elevates the Sharks into finals contention finishing the season in 10 th place, there fore qualifying to play the 3 rd place Paramatta Eels next week. | SHARKS DISTRICT REP'S FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL This is the final round of the NSWRL District Rep's season and the Sharks are traveling to Wyong to stay alive in 2009 Morrie Breen oval will be the scene for some fantastic junior rugby league when the Sharks will find out if they want to play in the finals this year. Both Cronulla's Harold Matthew's Cup & SG Ball team have had their chances in 2009, loosing some games that should not have gotten away. The SG Ball side have played the top 3 teams in the past 4 weeks and none of the top teams could defeat the Sharks by more than a converted try, last weeks game against the lowly Raiders just showed what a hungry football team can do to you if you don't turn up up play for your mates. The Mathew's Cup side are playing the Central Coast for 8 th position on the ladder with only half a game separating the two teams. The SG Ball find them selves unluckily lower than their little mates, but have the opportunity to slip into the final 12 with a good win over the Central Coast boys who have struggled all year. Going into the finals it appears that it is better to finish in the middle of the pack, teams final positions on the ladder will determine on who they play in week one of the finals. No one yet knows what format the final round of 12 will take, we are waiting on a reply to a list of questions we put to the NSWRL. | HOW THE NSWRL DISTRICT REP'S FINALS COULD BE
This is a copy of what is posted in a thread on the NSW Junior reps forum in League Unlimited. It could be wrong. What we can confirm is that NSW teams are playing to qualify for a final 12 and their last pool match finishes next week. 1st v 12th (A) The Queensland comps will pit the top 2 in each against each other. 1st QLD sth v 2nd QLD nth (G) This will leave 6 teams left in NSW and 2 in QLD. They will then come together with (A) v (H) - I then I v L (M) finally (M) v (N) The main disadvantage seems to be for the team finishing 2nd who will presumably beat the 11th team in first round of finals but will then have to make the day trip to QLD to play a top team from there. |

| SHARKS HEADING BACK TO NYNGAN It's been 2 years since the Sharks made the long trip west to Nyngan with the then Under 14's Development squad had a fantastic weekend of footy, pig chasing, yabbie races and meeting new friends at the local (footy field) This year the Sharks are sending the Under 17's Development squad, but this time the Bulldogs and maybe the Tigers are also heading west. Along with the Far Western Academy of Sport, the Sharks, Bulldogs & the Tigers will be putting on some great rugby league for the locals in what promises to be a great weekend of junior rugby league. The bus leave on Friday morning from Sharkies, ourfootyteam will bring you all the action from the Nyngan trip over the Easter Weekend. . De La Salle 16a's fought a determined Gymea Gorilla's to win by 2 points in the 1st game of the 16A's season. Gymea have some fine new players who look keen to put in the effort required at this level of footy and with their very speedy winger Aaron Campbell latching onto a long pass to out run De La to bring his team to with in 2 points of De La, unfortunately the conversion attempt missed. Gymea will be very competitive this year, both teams look like they were lacking fitness, it was a good game of footy with the visiting Illawarra Ref's doing a good job too. aCTioN FoTo's SooN oR ToMZ CRONULLA CARINGBAH HAMMER COLTS The Colts have lost a few good players from last year with Dave Pasqualino moving to De La Salle. Brad Anderson who is in fine try scoring form opened his 2009 account with 4 tries in his team 64 - 0 whitewash of the Colts. Cronulla Caringbah gave a couple of the Matty's Cup players a run today with Clinton Strickland & Tokerau Raru making the most of their opportunity. Brad Anderson was named 'Players Player of the match. The Sharks were low on numbers in this game, so a few brave souls from the u 15's & u 14's stepped up to play with the boys. | TIGERS TAKE CONTROL The Yarrawarra Tigers certainly proved to be mud runners as the home teams dined out on the opposition. The 11 games at home produced 10 wins and a draw with a staggering 424 points to 60 over the course of the day. De La Salle won all but 2 or 3 games at captain Cook Oval against good opposition from the Gymea Gorilla's. RAIDERS SPEAR SHARKS In the Matty's Cup, the Sharks held a comfortable 20 - 4 (6) lead, only to blow the game in the 2 nd half and allowed the Raiders not only into the game, but to win too The SG Ball match was almost a complete reversal of the Mattys Cup game. The Sharks trailed at half time by 2 or 3 tries and played catch up footy for the entire 2 nd half and just couldn't quite get in front of the Raiders. The Raiders have been way under performing this year and the buzz from the bee's is that the Raiders SG Ball side were told, "if you don't beat the Sharks, we are going to kick you all outta the club" now thats motivation. After a final weekend of trial games, team are tearing at the bit to get into the action, only 5 more sleeps. Clubs and team have new players and plans for their 2009 campaigns, training has been going on for what seems like forever, now its time to put all these new plans into action.
