2 tries in the first 10 minutes and the Cronulla Boys were off.
Some great runs from Jake Brennan (Sutherland) and Jack Summerfield (Gymea) to successfully put points on the board.
Nice clean balls from Harry, Kurt, Jacko and many other players set up all of these great tries.
Once we were settled in to the game the Balmain Boys struck back and put a couple of tries on within the rest of the 10 minutes left of the 1st Quater.
The Second 3rd had started with both teams fired up.
From the kick-off, Dodgie put on some amazing tackles on their big blokes.
Rea Pitman and Jeremy Saville (Cronulla Caringbah) had some very good strong runs.
Harry Day (Engadine Dragons) and Jackson Clark (De La Salle)had good games controlling to ball.
Rea's first game at Fullback and he had some powerful runs and kept the defence honest with his feirce tackling.
Joseph Drinkwater was good under the high ball on a couple of occaisions which enabled his Sharks team mates the opportunity to counter attack the Tigers with Andrew Montgomery (De La Salle) coming in at dummy half for some quick runs.

Dodgie was a Dragon Lord in defence, with some bone shattering hits on many unwary Tigers.
A couple of opportunities came upon us but we did not quite get over the yellow line.
The 3rd Quarter was definitely the hardest one.
The Balmain team put 2 tries on us but we never gave up.
With the score 26 - 18 with around 2 ½ minutes to go the Boys gave the ball out to De La Salles' smart center Nick Pleasence, Nick ducked and weaved his way for more than 25 meters to over the line right next to the left upright. The shot at goal went wide.
Then with only 17 and a half seconds left, Reese Davidson smashed his way thorough the entire Tiger Cub pack then put on a burst of speed to score under the black dot to level the scores.
Engadine Dragons Michael Morris stepped up and booted the conversion.
With a draw and a close win today, it showed the fitness and skills of some of these two great rugby league areas is on the up, and we all look forward to next years games. |
