Lions Ready For Toughest Challenge Yet
Great Britain U18 Community Lions v Australian Schoolboys
Sunday 3 December
Doncaster RUFC
KO: 2.00pm
Adults: £5 – Concessions: Free
The Great Britain U18 Community Lions are prepared for their toughest challenge yet, as they come face to face with the 2006 Australian Schoolboys.
The renowned Schoolboys have a reputation for producing future stars, and over the years have provided a major career stepping stone for players such as Brad Fittler, Jamie Lyon and Greg Inglis to name but a few.
After agonisingly losing to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in the final minute last night, Great Britain Manager Joe Elliott is confident his chargers can raise their game further against such formidable opposition.
“Although we were desperately unlucky to lose against the AIS, I was happy with the overall performance of the side,” said Elliott.
“After playing France and then the AIS we know that the Australian Schoolboys will provide us with an even greater challenge, however I am confident we will acquit ourselves well.”
Australian Schoolboys President Bruce Wallace is also looking forward to the encounter.
“The match against the Great Britain U18 Community Lions is another first for us and I am sure it will provide another exciting challenge for our young side.”.. Learn More |

Young back in hospital
Thursday, November 9, 2006 - 4:37 PM
The bad luck for St. George Illawarra utility Dean Young has continued with the 23-year-old back in hospital for a third time as he attempts to recover from a knee reconstruction.
Young suffered the injury in the round 25 win over Cronulla and had surgery soon after. He suffered a potentially deadly staph infection which saw him drop 15 kilos and become hardly recognisable to his team mates.
The third bout of surgery was to tighten ligaments and while he’s resigned to missing the start of the 2007 season he’s looking for a late January return to training.
The Dragons pack will lock horns with two of their own to kick off the 2007 season with St.George Illawarra set to meet the Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday March 18.
Former Dragons favourite Luke Bailey and Michael Henderson have switched to the Titans from next season.
