"It has been a long time since this club has secured the services of an up-and-coming player, external to our own juniors, with the ability of Luke Capewell and we're pleased to announce that he will be with us for at least the next two seasons," Rabbitohs chief executive Shane Richardson said.
"He is the outstanding player from his age group, with all of the skills, and with more time to develop his game and to work with the team we have here, we're sure he can become a top-level player in the NRL."
"A lot of hard work has gone into bringing Luke to our Club and I congratulate our recruitment team on the job they have done.
"We're very excited about next season and we look forward to seeing all of our new recruits in action in the new year."
