NSWCCC CUP GRAND FINAL

Next Wednesday the St. Marys Leagues will be hosting the NSWCCC Cup grand final at St. Marys Stadium with the Final of the 3 Catholic competitions
The big boyz get it on in the NSWCCC CUp and it will featuire two of the most famous and successful schools in rugby league.
Patrician Brothers Blacktown take on the mighty St. Gregorys College, both schools have star studded line up and this should prove to be one of the best games of the year
The day kicks off at 11:45 with the Primary School, 12:45 is the kick off for the u14's Cochrane Cup and then at 2:00 pm, the NSWCCC CUP kicks off
this will be an excellent day of schoolboys rugby league, so get out to St. Marys Stadium next Wednesday to see the future stars of our game

NSWCCC ARE NOW THE WORLD CHAMPIONS

NSW Combined Catholic Colleges are the official world Champion schoolboys rugby league team today after defeated the Queensland Schoolboys in the final of the ASSRL 18's Championships at St. Marys Stadium.
The 2011 ASSRL Champions are the first host team to win they won since 2006 at Wagga Wagga and celebrated with retiring coach Mr. Mick Lewis and fantastic end to the ASSRL Championships.
In a remarkable turnaround, the NSWCCC side who were toweled by the Queensland boys a couple days before to the tune of 44 - 8, started slow and Sam Harrold gave the Queenslanders a 4 point lead.
Then the NSW forwards starting getting some field position which allowed dynamic hooker Luke Vescio room to move and get the ball to the runners.
Soni Langi evened the scores with his first grand final try, Adam Elliot scored in the far corner in the 1st half to give the hosts a nice 12 - 4 lead at the break.
The second half was good to watch as both these champion footy teams sized each other up again and everyone on the field threw their bodies on the line for their teams.
Nick Ritter who has already had a sensational year winning the NSWRL SG Ball competition, then the following week his Newcastle Knights team flogged Brisbanes Norths Devils in the National u18 Club Final scored next.
Soni Langi crossed the line again with minutes on the clock to put the game even beyond Queensland footy teams great comebacks.

SUCCESSFUL SOUTHERN COUNTRY TRIALS

Southern Country teams are primed for the NSW CCC State Trials to be held at St Marys on Friday 26th May and Saturday 27th May.
The fifteens and eighteens teams selected in Wagga today will play two games on the Friday and back up for their final game on Saturday.
Games played today in Wagga were of a very high standard between the Western region team and the Wollongong Dio team.
Success at the next level will result in a NSW CCC State jersey for successful players.

SICC RUGBY LEAGUE TRIALS
The Sydney independent Colleges Rugby League ( SICC) selection Trials will be held on Wednesday the 23rd of March 2011.
Two teams 15 and 18 years will be selected to represent SICC in the NSW CCC Rugby League trials in May.
SICC encompasses 38 Catholic schools from Sydney and the Gosford area.
Four teams PDSSSC, (Parramatta Diocese), Broken Bay Diocese, Southern Sydney Sport’s association and CBSA Christian Brother’s sports association will be participating in the carnival.
In all about 160 students will participate in the SICC Trials three times that number participated in the association trials.
For most students’ participation in the SICC Trials is an achievement in itself, whilst selection in the SICC team will give them a great opportunity for higher honours.
This year the 15’s will be competing for the inaugural SICC shield, players on the winning team will also receive a medallion.

RED BEND FEELING SAINTLY

St George Dragons High Performance Unit (HPU) training session held Wednesday 9th Feb.
At Wade Park in Orange. The was day organised by Brian Keegan
Red Bend boys Toby Evans (Parkes), Cameron Clarke (Lake Cargelligo), Sam Coster (Trundle) and Ethan Williams (Lake Cargelligo) attended the training camp run by HPU coaches Ben Haran and Dave Ballard.
Around 10 talented players from Central West (Orange, Dubbo, Bathurst, Condo) were invited along with signed Dragons recruits.
Sam Coster signed with the Dragons last year and has also attended training camps held over the holidays at Wollongong, whilst Toby, Cameron and Ethan were invited to attend on the day.
Dragons development staff now monitor these players throughout the year, during club, school and representative games and trials. |
