A child's perception, judgement and awareness of potentially dangerous situations is generally not sufficiently developed to properly cope with the road environment. Children under the age of 10 are not capable of negotiating the traffic environment alone. Children need supervision in and around traffic - this includes the whole traffic environment, especially local roads, not just main roads.

14th sept, '06

Due to consistent bad weather the 2006 primary schools sharks knockout has been cancelled.

The original date was set for June 7, some 3 months ago but due to some bad weather and a little bit of bad luck the day was rained out everytime we re scheduled it!!!

Hopefully the 2007 knockout will be bigger than ever.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS QUALIFY TO CONTEST STATE FINALS

After a number of washouts Primary Schools from around the Sutherland Shire finally made it onto the field to contest qualifying matches for the State Knockout Finals which are due to be contested next week.

Qualifiers were played in six different divisions, with the games revealing six different winners.

In the under nines, Our Lady of Fatima were victorious, St John Bosco were impressive in winning the 10's, Engadine West escaped with the 11's in a close fought division, while Gymea Bay triumphed in the Open'

In the 'B' Divisions for small schools, Star of the Sea at Miranda won the 10's, while Loftus managed a victory in the Open B'

The matches held on Wednesday were purely State Championship qualifiers, with all schools to be invited to compete in the Sharks All-Schools Knockout at a date to be confirmed later in term three.

Next week the State Knockout finals will be held in Blacktown, with the Primary Schools to be played on Monday, High Schools on Tuesday and Sporting Selective High Schools on Wednesday.

Also in a trial event being run on Wednesday, an under 14, under 60kg competition will be conducted. No Sutherland Shire Schools have entered teams in this weight regulated competition.

The P. S. School Knock out comp results will be available tomorrow.

So check out heaps of other kids footy news on our website.

PRIMARY SCHOOL KNOCK-OUT COMP

CRONULLA - ARL DEVELOPMENT

The Primary schools sharks knockout for tomommow (Wed 26th) has been cancelled again due the poor weather and state of the grounds.

For those schools who are 100% willing to go on to the state finals and rate themselves a realistic chance of winning their division, a straight knockout comp will run next wednesday to determine who will represent the cronulla region at the state knockout finals series.

All nominated teams are welcome to participate next wednesday in this mini comp., but only teams who are truly wishing to go on to the state finals need contact me in order to play.

This is the only purpose for any teams considering coming down to play next week.

For all other teams the knockout day will run as it was supposed to at a date later in August (teams playing at state finals will also be welcome to come back and play at the knockout later in August.). A fax will be sent to all schools with details,
