The 2006 Bradley Clyde Shield has gone to Lyneham High School, after they defeated Caroline Chisolm by 32-24 in the final held at Northbourne Oval in Braddon today.
Both sides made the final after winning their respective divisions earlier this year, and the match reflected the high standard that comes with the two best teams in the ACT.
The Clyde Shield is the premier rugby league competition for year nine and ten students in the ACT, and brings together secondary schools from all over the ACT, and Queanbeyan regions.
Earlier in the day it was Caroline Chisolm defeating Stromlo High School by 28-22 to take out the Rauter Shield, in the year seven and eight division of junior rugby league.
Both Chisolm and Stromlo had their chances to win the match, but in the end Chisolm proved to be the stronger of the two schools scoring six tries to four.
Organiser of the day and Canberra Raiders development officer Matt Ford said the two finals were a great showcase of the talent base in the ACT, and thanked everyone for their participation over the duration of the carnival.
"Today we saw to great finals and a lot of future stars playing some great rugby league," Ford said. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the schools that have been involved during this year's carnivals, and for everyone who that has helped during this time."
"Hopefully we will see everyone back again next year for another chance to win these prestigious titles."
