RED BEND 14’S THROUGH TO THE REGIONAL PLAYOFFS
On Friday 11 th May the College under 14’s rugby league team, participated in the Cochrane Cup for Catholic Schools.
The regional gala day was held at St Stanislaus' College Bathurst.
Teams participating included St Matthews (Mudgee), James Sheahan (Orange), St Johns (Dubbo) and Stannies (Bathurst).
The College opened the day with an impressive 30 – 0 win, over St Matthew, (Mudgee)with tries to Jarrod Reid, Kyle Baxter, Alex Gunn, Branden Plunkett and Todd Graham, with Tod kicking 5 from 5.
The second game against James Sheahan was a lot closer with tries to Toby Evans and Brandon Miller 2 goals to Todd seeing the College win 12 – 8.
We faced Stannies who were also undefeated in our third game, in front of a large and vocal home crowd.
Stannies started well but the scores were even at half time 8 – 8.
The College finished stronger to run out winners 10 8 with tries to Kyle Baxter, Chris Butler and a goal
to Todd.
The final game in the round robin format had the College up against St John’s; a loss would have seen Stannies the winners, having a better for and against.
In a very hard fought and close game the College came from behind to score a thrilling 18 – 16 win, with
tries for Todd Graham (2) and Jake O’Brien and 3 goals to Todd.
The College now progress through to the regional playoffs and face the winner of the Riverina area for the day was, Alex Gunn, Branden Plunkett, Brandon Miller, Brett Dwyer, Cameron Clarke, Chris Butler, Ethan Williams, Jack Shaw, Jake O’Brien, Jarred Nicholson, Jarrod Reid, Jordan Hawkins, Kyle Baxter, Matthew Crowley, Mitchell Davis, Tim Spry, Tobias Evans, Todd Graham and Henry Willis.
